Up until 2020, Currys have held their annual Peak conference as a live event at a large UK conference centre for up to 1600 colleagues, bringing to life key business strategies and providing opportunities for them to connect with suppliers and new products via the supplier expo.
A bespoke, virtual 3D world with a plenary theatre, immersive supplier expo and self-exploratory zones for colleagues to connect
Then, the pandemic hit. With so many colleagues on furlough and restrictions in place, how could we – as their strategic partner for 10 years - deliver their business-critical conference and continue to engage, excite, and galvanise teams in a lockdown situation?
Easy – by working together to create a bespoke, virtual 3D world with a plenary theatre, immersive supplier expo and self-exploratory zones for colleagues to connect, learn and engage with company priorities from anywhere.
The success of ‘Virtual Peak’ saw the launch of ‘Virtual Peak 2.0’ in 2021, incorporating the most successful virtual elements from 2020, like the immersive supplier expo, while making the most of the eased restrictions by introducing live broadcasts for the ‘Opening Ceremony’ and the prestigious Chairman’s Shield Awards.
Your creativity really helped to make the story pop and I hugely appreciated you pulling out all the stops to make everything work on the day.
Chief People, Communications and Sustainability Officer, Currys
2022 saw the return of the live Peak conference, and we drew on our learnings from the previous two years to deliver an experience that allowed colleagues to engage in the things that matter most - less plenary, more self-discovery. So we stepped it up another notch with interactive experiences for huge numbers of colleagues, unprecedented immersive breakout zones, a supplier expo with more activity than ever, and a series of ‘Leadership Live’ talks to empower colleagues to become true leaders of the business.
But no-one was left behind. A hybrid approach - facilitated through the Currys Workplace platform - allowed all colleagues to see and interact with the live event from wherever they were.
We know this was a very ambitious agenda and took so much to pull off. We couldn’t have done it without you. You lot are amazing.
